The Exchange: Learning Together to Transform Higher Education

The Exchange: Learning Together to Transform Higher Education

The Exchange is a monthly Zoom networking opportunity for NCCI members to share ideas,  tools, and best practices based on a designated resource relating to the topic of change, innovation, strategy, and/or leadership development.  Co-hosts John Fedy from the University of Waterloo and Angela Knobloch from University of Virginia will moderate the discussion and share insights.

As a result of participating in these monthly sessions, participants will strengthen relationships with peers, grow their knowledge, and become better equipped to transform higher education institutions as change leaders.

Registration is required. Access instructions will be provided on the registration confirmation page, and emailed the morning of the program. Please be sure to view the discussion resource prior to the event.

Important Conversations: How Managers Can Engage Employees in the Return to Campus | September 29

Wednesday, September 29 at 4 p.m. Eastern

There are a number of elements to consider as we plan and prepare for returning to campus. We may be curious about what to expect, how to manage change and prepare for our campuses (and work) to look and feel different. Managers and Leaders have an important role to play in supporting the return to campus. This role includes being informed on key processes to support decision making, recognizing and addressing potential barriers and understanding change and complex emotions. The focus of this Exchange will be on providing Managers and Leaders with a space to understand and explore the current needs associated with returning to campus and how we can change existing situations into preferred ones.

The discussion for this Exchange will be based on the article by The World of Work Project, Leading Through The Change Curve In The World of Work, which can be found here. Please be sure to review this prior to the session.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand the importance of starting with intentionality
  • Recognize the value of holding space to understand change and complex emotions people will experience
  • Review the steps in leading change through the change curve
  • Explore strategies to support individuals and teams through change and transition

Facilitated by John Fedy, Manager of Leadership Development at University of Waterloo. With over 15 years of experience in higher education, John is dedicated to helping individuals, teams, and organizational units transform the way they learn, develop, and lead.

This session is a part of the “Recalibration: Creating a Better Normal” program.
